Hong Kong Serrans have hosted sisters on Mother’s Day since 2005
The Serra Club of Hong Kong hosted its annual Mother’s Day luncheon for religious sisters, a beloved tradition that began in 2005.
In addition to a great meal, time for socialization, table prizes, and fun games, talks were given to the sisters about medical issues facing the communities they serve, further equipping them in their ministry.
This year, two medical professionals spoke on health issues affecting the elderly, particularly degenerative cognitive impairment and hearing problems.
Over 130 religious sisters from 23 orders attended the event, along with VIP guests Cardinal John Tong and Msgr. José Luis Diaz Mariblanca Sanchez.
Serrans in Nigeria Use Invitation Coins, Travelling Crucifix
The Serra Club of Ketu was visited by members of the Serran Club of Oluwasegun Anjorin, and was presented with Serra Invitation Coins and a Traveling Crucifix to help promote vocations in Ketu.
During this visit, the community of Ketu was also encouraged to pray for priests.
Parishioners rallied around the idea of praying for priests, and were able to pick the name of a priest of the Archdiocese of Lagos, and promised to pray for him for seven days.
Bangalore Serrans Host Vocation Presentations & Scripture Quiz
Serrans conducted a series of presentations at Catholic high schools throughout Bangalore that focused on vocational discernment. Sisters from their schools shared their testimonies about how they discerned religious life. Through these presentations, several students vocalized their interest in joining religious orders.
Serrans also hosted their annual Scripture Quiz, a day-long program that encourages students to familiarise themselves with the Word of God. This year 50 teams of students in 8th through 10th grade participated, totalling 150 students. Fr. Satish Arokyaswamy, Auxiliary Bishop of Bangalore Archdiocese, spoke to the participants and emphasised the importance and the need to imbibe the Word of God.
